We’ve all been there…trying to parallel park. OR we’ve tried to TEACH our kids to parallel park. Both tasks are equally painful and difficult. But if you live remotely close to any large city, it is a necessary evil.
Well, here’s a diagram making it as easy as 1-2-3 and it comes from a city bus driver. And that’s good enough in my book!
Follow these simple steps and you’ll be parallel parking like a pro in no time! 🙂
Step 1) Pull up next to the forward car with rear bumpers equal and about 2 feet behind their front tires. Now turn your tires to the right, all the way.
Step 2) Back up, with wheels turned all the way, until you can see the car’s license plates behind you in your side mirror. This means you are at a 45 degree angle.
Step 3) Straighten wheels and back up…slowly.
Step 4) Stop backing up once the front of your car is past the rear bumper of the one in front of you.
Step 5) While STOPPED turn the wheels all the way to your left (this will straighten the car out).
Step 6) And slowly glide right into place.
You’re in!
I hope this lesson in parallel parking is helpful! Good luck and be safe out there!
