If a poll were taken, I would bet that PASTA would be in the top 5 meals that everyone would consider their favorite. And if that poll were mostly men, I would also wager that BACON would be at the top of their lists, as well. So, why not put the two together for a surefire home-run at dinner tonight! Pasta Infused With Bacon! 🙂
NOTE: This recipe calls for a pasta maker and I’ve been told you can find then on Amazon for around $25. Â So, if you’re a pasta-lover, maybe it’s time to order one. And if you have a food processor handy, you’ll need that, too.Â
Before we get started, you’ll need these ingredients:Â
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 2 eggs
- 8 oz bacon
- 1 Tbsp. bacon fat (from frying the bacon)
- 1-2 Tbsps. water
The bacon here has already been cooked and the bacon grease has been set aside.
Place the cooked bacon into the food processor and ‘pulse’ it down as fine as possible.
Periodically, stir and continue to ‘pulse.’
If it still seems a little bit too chunky, place the bacon in a ziploc bag and roll over with rolling pin.
Add the bacon bits to your flour.
Whisk together your eggs and your bacon grease (fat).
Make a space in the middle of your flour to pour in your egg/grease mix. Begin stirring together using a fork and eventually your hands.
Add water if necessary. Your flour should be firm enough to create a dough ball.
Place dough in a covered bowl to ‘rest’ for approximately 45 minutes.
Once it’s rested, roll out using your rolling pin into 3 or 4 sections approximately 3/8 inch thick.
Run these pieces through the pasta maker a few times to flatten then even further.
Let them rest again for about 10 minutes before your begin slicing. Determine the size of your noodles and begin cutting them.
Feel free to begin boiling your water during this step. The noodles will continue to ‘rest’ while the water boils. Place your noodles in the water but watch them carefully. The noodles will cook quickly.
Once the pasta is done, you decide how to best top it off. Some prefer marinara, while others like a creamy based sauce.
And, ENJOY! Doesn’t this look delicious?
